Scan in Linköping faced issues with an inefficient wastewater treatment system, resulting in unnecessary costs and a challenging work environment. After a thorough preliminary study, an extensive renovation was carried out, implementing robust treatment technologies, including the installation of step screens and wash presses from Hydria Water. 

Upon completion of the renovation, it was clear that the facility not only improved its environmental impact and work environment but also significantly reduced costs.

Challenge

The wastewater treatment system was inefficient, leading to unnecessary costs and a challenging work environment. Waste transport was frequent and costly, and the treatment plant struggled to manage a large amount of waste.

Solution

Through extensive renovation and the implementation of robust treatment technologies, the facility not only improved its environmental impact but also significantly reduced costs. 

The project involved the installation of step screens and wash presses. 

In addition to new, efficient products from Hydria Water, a key success factor was the preliminary study conducted, as well as having a clear goal from the start and close collaboration during implementation and tuning.

Result 

After the renovation, the work environment has improved significantly. The new infrastructure has created a clean and safe work environment for the staff. This has not only increased productivity but also reduced the risk of work-related injuries and illnesses.

The implementation of an efficient screen has been a key factor in preventing debris from entering the treatment plant. This has significantly reduced the amount of waste treated, from an estimated capture rate of 50% to 90%. In other words, both increased efficiency and reduced operating costs. This has contributed to the high quality of the water being discharged, meeting all necessary environmental standards.

By reducing the transport of waste, the facility has managed to save significant amounts of money in the long term. Moreover, the reduced amount of waste being treated and the increased efficiency of the treatment technologies have significantly reduced operating costs. The result for Scan is thus both increased efficiency and reduced operating costs.
